How did you & Rhett meet?
Rhett and I met while at a bar downtown with friends. I waved to him because I thought he looked like Ryan gosling and he seemingly completely ignored me (haha). Later in the night, he came up to me and said he thought there was no way I would be talking to him and thought I was waving to someone behind him and then asked me on our first date :)
Where was your first date?
Our first date was drinks and snacks at The Imperial Wine Bar in Ivanhoe Village. This is a cute little bar that is also a cool furniture store. I thought he was taking me to Chinese takeout and was pleasantly surprised.
How did your partner propose?
Rhett told me that he got a promotion about 3 months before he proposed. He said his boss was coming into town to take us out to dinner, and we were going to meet them for drinks where they were staying at the Alfond Inn in winter park. When we got there, he took me out to the outside area where he had roses arranged into a heart and a bottle of champagne and proposed. I looked up and saw my dad and stepmom watching from above, looked to the right and saw my two best friends, and looked the other way and saw his sister photographing everything. Then his parents and my mom and stepdad came out of hiding and I was shocked everyone I loved was all there!
What was your wedding dress shopping experience like?
It was so fun! I was worried I wouldn’t find anything I liked, but was able to find the perfect dress at the bridal finery!
What bridal accessory was your favorite?
I really loved my earrings. My dress was more of a classic wedding dress, so I wanted to add a little sparkle with my earrings!
What do you love most about your wedding venue?
I loved that it was indoor and outdoor. It was also exactly what I was looking for- I wanted a romantic modern barn that I could deck out with candles and twinkle lights for a super romantic December wedding.
What is one thing you wish you knew before you started wedding planning?
That everything is going to work out! The planning process was stressful before I hired my planner, but as soon as you’re directed to the right vendors everything really does fall into place.
How would you describe the overall feel of your event?
It was “romantic autumn woodsy”. Lots of taupes, boho flowers, twinkly lights and a ton of candles. I wanted it to feel cozy.
What wedding planning advice do you have for other brides?
It will all be worth it, I promise!
Where will your honeymoon be?
Our honeymoon will be in St. Lucia.
What are you enjoying most about newlywed life?
That now we are recognized as a married couple and it’s so much fun doing everything together!
