How did you & Chris meet?
We met in college at Georgetown University during my freshman year. Chris was on the baseball team and I was on the soccer team, and all of our teammates were really good friends.
Where was your first date?
Chris will say our first date was a Washington Capitals game, but I will say our first date was when he asked me to dinner in downtown D.C.
How did Chris propose?
Chris originally planned to propose at Tavern on the Green in Central Park during our last weekend living in New York City.
The weekend before, we were in Boston for a wedding and naturally got to talking about our special day. We (or I, at the time) didn't know when that would be, but we knew we were going to spend our lives together.
Not wanting to wait another week, Chris ended up proposing on the Amtrak ride home. I'm not sure where we were exactly (maybe somewhere in Connecticut), but it was the most perfect and heartfelt moment. We were the only two people on the train and it was so nice to enjoy that moment alone together. We promptly celebrated after getting back to our apartment with pizza and champagne.
What was your wedding dress shopping experience like?
Easy. I had a good idea of what I wanted so I sent Roberta a few pictures of dresses I loved before my appointment. I walked into the Bridal Finery to see the perfect dress hanging up ready for me to try on. I walked out an hour later after ordering that exact dress.
What bridal accessory was your favorite?
My earrings. They were simple and matched my hairpiece perfectly.
What do you love most about your wedding at Rosen Shingle Creek?
Our ceremony and reception rooms were beautiful, open spaces and we customized them to fit our wedding with florals and lighting. We also had everything we needed in one place. Our guests came in early and during our wedding week, we got to enjoy the spa, pool, golf course and restaurants with all our friends and family.
What is one thing you wish you knew before you started wedding planning?
That the day goes by so fast. We postponed our wedding so it felt like we had been waiting for that day forever but it still flew by.
How would you describe the overall feel of your event?
Simple and elegant.
What was your wedding color palette?
White, sage and forest green with gold accents.
What wedding planning advice do you have for other brides?
Having help from a coordinator or planner during the final few weeks is a life saver, especially when you need to finalize your timeline and last-minute details with vendors.
Where will your honeymoon be?
We went to The Bahamas!
What are you enjoying most about newlywed life?
Not much has changed, but we are enjoying finally being married after postponing our wedding. It's also so nice to not worry about wedding planning anymore!
