Wedding Dresses Inspired by Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding

Good morning! I know you have been up for several hours already watching the royal wedding.  Why not read more about the dress! Hopefully you enjoyed watching with mimosas, English tea, and fascinators! I watched the stream on youtube on mute while my son slept in my arms. I didn't have the opportunity to hear the ceremony; however, I saw all the fashion!  I wouldn't miss it!

Now let's talk about the fashion!  Meghan wore a beautiful Givenchy wedding dress designed by Clara Waight Keller.  Meghan's wedding dress had a bataeu neckline with a full sleeve and light a-line skirt. The fabric is comparable to a silk 2-ply crepe. The fabric is silk cady which is often used in modern haute fashion.  Some would say her dress wasn't royal enough or not over the top. The wedding dress is such a personal decision and I'm sure Meghan felt like royalty! Often we associate detailing as more expensive. In reality, high-end wedding fashion is sleek, timeless, and minimalistic. It is all about the fabric and architecture.  While I do feel the fit on the bodice could have been constructed a little differently, Meghan looked beautiful. A true Grace Kelly of our time.

Here are my top in-store wedding dresses inspired by Meghan Markle's wedding day look. I love when brides are inspired, but are not necessarily looking for a replica. Each individual should  have their own wedding dress. This is one of the many things I love about our boutique. We only have one of each dress with the exception of a handful of special order dresses that can be replicated.

For some of my clients accessories are an afterthought. The royal wedding was such a reminder of how invaluable accessories are to the wedding day look. People were posting and sharing just as much about the tiara and veil as they were about the wedding dress. When styling my clients I always consider how they are wearing their hair, what lip color, veiling, and jewelry.  I always see it as one vision. Meghan wore a timeless floral embordiered cathedral veil with a blusher. Her tiara was Queen Mary's from 1932.  While wedding dresses are not often re-worn by family, the accessories are. They are cherished pieces that generations appreciate.
