Yellow and Gray Wedding at Cavu Tampa, Florida

The new year is right around the corner and like clockwork Pantone released the new 2021 colors. Yellow and Gray are the winners! Before you make any decisions on the colors, take a look at this dreamy yellow and gray wedding! Our bride Lacey was ahead of the trends with her modern venue space and warm yellowy hues. She tied the knot during the 2020 leap year at Cavu in Tampa, Florida. The venue has clean concrete gray floors and plenty of rustic charm throughout.

Let’s Talk About the Gorgeous Yellow and Gray Wedding Colors!

Why did you decide on yellow for your wedding day?

One of my best friends and bridesmaids works in the wedding industry. She runs her own business, The Lost Society renting out wedding décor. In addition to The Lost Society, she was also working at Bella Bridesmaids in Winter Park. To say the least, she is a seasoned vet in the industry. For me however, when it came to final decision making, I found it overwhelming that there were SO MANY choices. Everything looks amazing on Pinterest, how the heck was I supposed to know what would actually look good?! Thankfully for me, I have a Mandy in my life. I went to her with a lot of my wedding style questions. I had a ton of ideas about what I liked, but I had a hard time pulling the trigger and making the final decisions. I relied on her judgement and opinions of what might look good together, since she was the seasoned vet. During her time at Bella Bridesmaids she began seeing the color “chartreuse” a lot and had a major hunch that this color was going to be a hit. She suggested the color and I LOVED IT. I wanted our wedding to tap into our Florida roots and create a sense of “Old Florida”. I wanted our wedding to remain fairly traditional but not cliché. I wanted it to be different and unique, but not over-the-top or weird. I also wanted a celebratory color for our day. Yellow or “chartreuse” was absolutely perfect and in hindsight I cannot imagine any other color to capture the perfect vibe for our special day.

What do you think of the yellow and gray pantone colors for 2021?

I LOVE IT! I think yellow is such a happy and celebratory color. Your wedding day is hopefully one of the most, not if THE most happiest/ celebratory days of your life! The only possible downside to choosing yellow bridesmaids’ dresses is you become more limited to other color options, especially for the groomsmen suits. For our groomsmen we chose a bright navy blue but contemplated going gray… aside from those two colors, I am not sure there would be many other options. But it worked perfectly for us!

What does it feel like to be ahead of the trend?

Ha! It feels like I am thankful to have friends in the biz that get me. Yellow was the perfect pop of out of the norm for my wedding that I was searching for. Not too over-the-top, and not too overdone. I hope that my wedding will inspire other brides to reach outside of their comfort zone and trust the people in their inner circle. Sometimes they truly know you better than you know yourself.
