How the famous couple met
Ashlynn Harris and Ali Kreiger met in 2010 at the USWNT training camp. The two became good friends and eventually, fell in love. Ali tells Vogue, “I just found her to be so captivating and always wanted to be around her…” Though they kept their relationship a secret, fans suspected they were an item. 10 years of dating lead to the perfect moment of their marriage. During the 2019 holiday season, Ali & Ashlynn invited many of their teammates and had a reunion like wedding.
The Florida Beach Wedding Proposal
Ashlynn and Ali we vacationing in Clearwater, Florida one weekend. While the couple was relaxing and enjoying their time together, they decided to take a walk on the beach with a glass of champagne to watch the sunset. While they were taking selfies, Ashlynn’s arm was in the back of the photo. Ali told her to stop being silly and to put (Ashlynn’s) arm down. She then realized that Ashlynn was holding the engagement ring! Ashlynn pulled the ring in front of Ali and popped the question. Ali described being shocked but so happy and excited.
Planning the Perfect Florida Beach Wedding
When it was time for the soccer stars to start wedding planning, they needed the right wedding planner. Ali and Ashlynn hired Sara Lowell with Sara Renee Events. Sara was able to bring their entire wedding vision to life. The couple started with booking a venue that hosted their clean and classic environment. The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami was the perfect hosting spot for their big day. Ali described the venue to Vogue as “It has this European feel that we were going for, so right when we walked into the venue for the first time, we were like, ‘Oh my God! It’s breathtaking. This is it!’” It was important for the couple to work with the right wedding vendors. They wanted to select professionals and brands that spoke to their soul and were nonconformity and understood the vibe they were going for.
What the Brides Wore to Their Florida Wedding
Keeping their clean vibe throughout the wedding, Ashlynn wore a suit by Thom Browne while Ali wore a long-sleeve crepe wedding gown by Pronovias. Ashlynn felt right at home wearing Thom Browne as he dresses the Barcelona soccer team frequently. It is a designer she is well acquainted with so she worked with the designer to create a custom tuxedo with a beaded argyle pattern for the wedding day. Ashlyn describes to Vogue, “Honestly, I love that it’s all very gender-neutral, very fluid, there are women in dresses and men in dress, and men and women in skirts. I can really feel how he expresses himself through clothes. It’s just so nonconforming and so far out. I’ve been wearing his stuff ever since.” When it was time for Ali to find the perfect wedding dress, she took shopping to the streets of New York with her best friend and maid of honor, Elizabeth Mumley. Ali fell in love with a Pronovias wedding dress. Her wedding dress featured long sleeves, a V neckline, and fit to flare shape. Ali described her Pronovias wedding dress to Vogue as “I fell in love and knew I would get married in this dress. It’s simple but sophisticated and elegant at the same time…”

It was finally wedding day for Ashlynn Harris and Ali Krieger
When it was finally the wedding day on December 28, the couple was married in a circular setting outside of the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens wedding venue. The circular setting allowed all of their guests to see and feel apart of the ceremony. Their wedding aisle featured simple white flowers and rose petals. The couple also wanted to walk alone down the aisle as strong, confident, independent women. “We felt it was right.” Their wedding ceremony was full of friends and family. Ashlynn’s best friend and USWNT team captain, Megan Rapinoe was the maid of honor while Ali’s brother, Kyle Krieger was the best man for their special day. Their officiant was friend and Orlando Pride teammate, Sydney Leroux. Their wedding day highlighted and paid tribute to those in the LBGTQ community. From reception tables being named after LGBTQ icons to a cake stacked with colors of the rainbow.
