Celebrity Royal Wedding: Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas wedding recap and our thoughts on her wedding gown
After obsessing over Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas’ wedding, we are so excited to share how they met, all the wedding details, and our thoughts on her wedding day look.
How did the couple meet?
Nick & Priyanka are rumored to have met at the 2017 Met Gala. However, according to Vogue the two first spoke over Twitter. Nick Jonas is rumored to have slid into Chopra’s DMs. Priyanka responded promptly and asked him to text her instead of messaging. The newly weds met officially at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in 2017. Months later, the couple reunited at The Met Gala and went on a formal date at The Carlyl in New York following weeks later.
Her wedding dress details
Chopra confirmed with Vogue during her January 2019 cover story that American designer, Ralph Lauren designed her wedding gown & Nick Jonas’ suit. What most don’t know is Ralph Lauren has only designed three wedding gowns aside from Chopra’; his daughter’s, his niece, and daughter in law. Chopra & Lauren have built a strong relationship and has worn many of his dresses over the years, so it makes sense for him to design her gown. Some of Chopra’s most iconic Ralph Lauren looks include the Met Gala 2017, Met Gala 2018, Forbes Women’s Summit 2018, and the Ralph Lauren 50th anniversary show 2018.
Priyanka Chopra’s Ralph Lauren Wedding Gown
Priyanka’s Ralph Lauren wedding gown and veil is one of the best bridal looks of 2018. Her trend setting 75 foot veil paired with her timeless wedding gown make for a look that will always be talked about. It was important for the couple to celebrate both sides of their culture and heritage. For the Christian ceremony, Ralph Lauren described her gown as a strapless column fit gown embellished with sequins paired with an over laid hand embroidered high neck and finished with silk satin buttons.
Priyanka Chopra’s Sabyasachi Wedding Gown
Priyanka’s second wedding gown is another iconic bridal moment of 2018. Priyanka wore a custom crimson red lehenga gown by leading Indian designer Sabyasachi. Her lehenga is a sparkling red with hand cut organza flowers, french knots, and Siam-red crystals. Her gown took over 3,720 hours to make. "I always knew I wanted a red traditional silhouette for my wedding but Sabya brought in incredible French embroidery to the mix and with incredible jewelry and Western-inspired veil it was just such an amalgamation of who I am," Chopra told People. Chopra completed her traditional look with traditional Mughal jewelry. Her wedding day jewels consisted of diamonds, emeralds, and pearls set in 22k gold by Chopard. She also wore a necklace set with 84.50 carats of pear shaped diamonds in 18k white gold, and 6.07 carat pear shaped diamond earrings.

Roberta & Jamie’s thoughts on her dress and veil:
Roberta: Simply, I love it. Everything about it. She looks fashion forward but still very bridal. I appreciate that she celebrated both cultures on their wedding day through their attire.
Jamie: I love her simple veil, however, it was just 50 feet too long in my opinion. I love a long simple veil, but it was just a little too extra. A 25 to 40 foot veil would of been perfect. Her gowns were absolutely beautiful. The shape of that gown is perfect for her body type, and I love the button details. I love that she wore Ralph Lauren, she is loyal to the label so it only made sense for her to wear an American designer to their Western ceremony. Her traditional red gown is beyond dreamy. I love that they were able to celebrate their cultures on such a special day.
