Exclusive Interview with Bridal Designer Sareh Nouri

Our Exclusive Interview with Sareh Nouri

The Bridal Finery is known for our selection of well-constructed wedding gowns. When choosing dresses for our store, Tali and Roberta know fabric & and fit are most important for brides. One of our designers who is known worldwide for her construction, fabrics, and classic aesthetic is Sareh Nouri. We are the only retailer in Orlando and are proud to carry her collection. Friday morning on June 15, I spoke with Sareh personally and she shared with me some of her favorite fabrics to design with, wedding dress shopping tips for brides, and her favorite fabrics, and what celebrity she would love to design for.

Where are you originally from?
Northern Virginia, near the DC area.

Where are your dresses made?
All of my gowns are handmade in the USA. Because all of the gowns are made in the USA, there are different custom change options & rush options. Because the gowns are made in my studio, there is better quality control because Our team oversees production.

I read on your website that you designed your own wedding gown! What did it look like?
I did design my own wedding dress! That is what started my line, I had a hard time finding my dream wedding dress. I was married in 2009, and there was nothing that I loved. I designed myself a tulle ball gown. It had a straight across neckline with Alencon lace, embroidery &  pearls

What is your favorite fabric to design with?
I love lace and clean lines. Silk faille & silk mikado are my favorite.

How do you select your fabrics?
I have many European lace and fabric vendors. When designing, I select the fabric first, then design, especially on intricate laces and beading.

When you are designing, what type of atmosphere do you like? Do you prefer to work at home or in the design studio? Do you listen to music or like silence?
I prefer to work in my design studio, I love the atmosphere and it very motivating. In the design studio, you can see the entire team working together. You will see dressmakers creating the latest collection and completing brides orders. I do listen to music when I work, I like to listen to podcasts or French instrumentals.

What is one piece of advice would you give a bride who is shopping for her wedding dress?
It’s never too early to find your dress, you don’t know what you’re going to like. It’s best for brides to listen & trust their bridal consultant and to be open to trying on different styles. Hangers don’t showcase dresses the way the body does, especially clean dresses like the Naomi gown. They look so simple, but on the body, it fits so well.  You’re going to be a winner with an open mind.

What are your thoughts on Meghan Markle’s wedding dress?
I loved the aesthetic and look, it was clean and chic and I loved her crown. However, I didn't love the fit- she is short waisted it and very petite. It should have been taken in and altered in the waist and arms. When it comes to bridal, it’s all about the fit. Construction is so important. My gowns have fantastic boning and construction, so Sareh Nouri brides can have that clean & chic royal look, but have a better fit.

Who is one celebrity or influencer you would love the style for their wedding day?
Jennifer Aniston, I love her look. I would design something clean & chic with a straight neckline. An example would be the Peony or the Naomi gown.

What is one thing you would change about the bridal industry today?
How many stores brides feel they need to shop at. If a bride loves a dress is having her bridal moment with her mom and friends, and they are all crying, that is when she needs to say ‘yes’ and stop shopping. It is important to live in the moment and say ‘yes’ to your dress when you have that moment, it is very hard to recreate that special moment. If you fall in love, say yes.
